Anders Ygeman, Swedish Minister for Energy and Digital Development, visited the Hanover fair in 2019.
Preparing for smart grids collaborations
Under the umbrellas of Smart City Sweden and Swedish-German Cleantech platform, the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce together with the Swedish Energy Agency extend the ambitions to contribute to collaborations in the area of smart grids.
The Swedish government has instructed the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate to continue the work of the Swedish Smart Grid Forum whose assignment ended in december 2019. Both organizations are since a long time well rooted in the sector and both are partnering with the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (GSCC), who worked with the Forum earlier.
During 2017 and 2019 the Forum ordered two market studies assessing business opportunities for Swedish smart grid companies on the German market. With the help of the GSCC, two delegation trips to Germany were organized and the Forum also participated twice in the Swedish Energy Pavilion at the world’s largest industry trade fair, Hannover Messe.
To pick up the threads, the GSCC will now build upon these previous activities and dive into an assessment of business opportunities focusing especially on the two German federal states of Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westfalia (NRW). These federal states have been the destination of delegation trips with the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform in 2020 and 2021. Thus, valuable contacts for new cooperation can be built upon already existing networks. The study will present the framework conditions for smart grid companies in Germany, focusing on the areas of smart grids including smart meters, e-mobility and charging infrastructure, smart buildings and energy storage. Additionally, it will compile a list of the most important companies, stakeholders, clusters and networks in both Baden-Württemberg and NRW that can be potential partners and customers to Swedish companies.
The study is due in calendar week 18, followed by a presentation of the results to Swedish companies in week 21. Every Swedish smart grid company is cordially invited to take part in the webinar. Please let us know if you are interested by sending an e-mail to Verena Adamheit.
In autumn, a delegation trip of German stakeholders is planned to present Swedish state-of-the-art technology within smart grids. Interested in presenting your product or solution? Please let us know via e-mail, too.
