Business opportunities for smart grid companies

Business opportunities for Swedish smart grids companies in Germany are very good. Above all within e-mobility and charging infrastructure, but new products and solutions contributing to the Energiewende are also needed within energy storage and smart grid technology, smart cities and smart homes. This is the output of a webinar, which the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (GSCC), partner in the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform (SGCP), held on behalf of Smart City Sweden.

In the webinar, the GSCC presented a report on smart grids in Germany, zooming in on the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Nordrhein-Westfalen – two of the four focus countries of SGCP. Both have a strong industrial sector, a large population and are promoting new technology intensely. Two corporates from each federal state confirmed the need of new products and solutions at the webinar and shared their hottest agenda topics with the audience. NetzeBW from Baden-Württemberg is focusing on integration of renewable energy, mostly PV, charging infrastructure and redispatch 2.0. For Gelsenwasser from North Rhine-Westphalia renewable energy, mostly wind power and PV, and e-mobility are equally of utmost importance, completed by district solutions and energy management systems. Both companies are looking forward to new contacts with Swedish companies, be it start-ups, scale-ups or medium-sized companies, offering a partnership, incubator activities (Netze BW) or investments.

The webinar was well received by Swedish companies within smart grids. Many of them are interested in entering the German market. A very good occasion is thus the next step in the project of GSCC and Smart City Sweden: a market screening delegation trip of German corporates within smart grids to Sweden in the autumn. The purpose of the delegation trip is to give German corporates insights into the Swedish innovation ecosystem, present best practice examples and of course introduce innovative Swedish companies. Please get in touch with Verena Adamheit if you are a Swedish smart grid company and want to present your product or solution to the delegation!
