Electric car sales tripled in Germany

Boosted by government funding and a larger selection available, the number of newly registered electric cars in Germany tripled during the past year. The Federal Motor Transport Authority (“Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt”) announced that about 194,000 purely battery-electric cars were registered in 2020. For comparison: In 2019, around 63,300 new electric vehicles were registered in Germany.
