Connecting Markets and Minds: Highlights from the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform 2024
The strength of the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform lies in its combination of strategic market insights and personalized matchmaking. In 2024, the program once again proved to be a vital bridge between innovative Swedish companies and key stakeholders in the German market, with the overarching goal of fostering cross border collaboration within cleantech. This year, a total of 12 companies were selected to participate – six from the field of sustainable cities and six from sustainable mobility – reflecting the program’s commitment to addressing critical challenges in urban development and transport.
The program launched in March 2024 with an inspiring study trip to Berlin, offering valuable insights into Germany’s energy transition and an introduction to key regions. A highlight of the trip was the participation in the SET Tech Festival, where the new members of the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform showcased their innovative solutions. The journey concluded with a bilateral energy conference at the Swedish Embassy, setting the tone for the upcoming year.
Following the kickoff in Berlin, the individualized phase of the program began. Each participating company received customized support of the German-Swedish
Chamber of Commerce to develop market entry strategies.
Additional study trips provided participants with deeper insights into selected German federal states. The group focusing on sustainable urban development traveled to North Rhine-Westphalia. Meanwhile, the companies focused on sustainable mobility visited Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, regions known for their strong automotive and mobility industries. Both groups attended tailored networking events and gained insights into the respective local markets. To maximize business development opportunities, the study trips were complemented by pre-arranged B2B meetings, ensuring participants could connect directly with relevant stakeholders and potential partners.
Johanna Zechel, CCO of Emulate, a Swedish company specializing in optimization and aggregation of devices like heat pumps, EV chargers and batteries, shares her
positive experience: “Participating in the program has been incredibly valuable for Emulate. The carefully organized individual meetings opened up several potential partnerships, which we believe will be crucial for our expansion into the German market. The program facilitated meaningful connections that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to establish.”
Looking ahead, the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform remains a prime example of how targeted initiatives can unlock substantial opportunities and foster impactful partnerships across borders for Swedish Cleantech solutions. Interested companies can now sign up for the next round of the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform to take advantage of this unique opportunity for growth and collaboration. Don’t miss the chance to join the program and explore the German market with unparalleled support.
