Ingrid and Energiequelle form new partnership for 200 MW battery storage in Germany

One of the platform participants of 2025, Ingrid, has entered into a co-development agreement with international renewable energy developer Energiequelle GmbH. Together, the companies will deliver 200 MW of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) at strategic locations across the German distribution grid, focusing on areas with the greatest need for flexibility.

Energiequelle will lead project development, while Ingrid will finance, operate and optimize the facilities using its trading and optimization platform. Most projects are expected to begin construction in 2026.

“This partnership is an important step in our European expansion. Our goal is to optimize more than 1 GW of flexible assets in Germany by 2030,” says Axel Holmberg, CEO of Ingrid.

Ingrid already operates or is building more than 450 MW (650 MWh) of storage in the Nordics and is simultaneously expanding into multiple European countries.

Energiequelle, which has built nearly 2,000 MW of grid infrastructure since 1997, sees the collaboration as a way to strengthen energy system stability and support the energy transition by enhancing grid flexibility. “Ingrid’s expertise in large-scale energy storage is a strong complement to our development capabilities,” says CEO Michael Raschemann.

The agreement highlights battery storage as a key component in Germany’s path to climate neutrality, enabling greater grid stability, improved integration of renewable energy and enhanced security of supply.

We look forward to following Ingrid’s continued expansion on the German market.
