Insights from the Berlin Delegation Trip: Swedish Cleantech Takes the Next Step in Germany
Over three intensive days in Berlin, we brought together innovative companies, key stakeholders, and investors to accelerate Swedish cleantech expansion in Germany. Through a carefully curated program combining market insights, high-level networking, and participation in one of Europe’s leading energy events, SET Tech Festival, the trip delivered both strategic knowledge and concrete business opportunities.
Building Market Understanding from Day One
The program opened at the Nordic Embassies in Berlin, setting the stage with an introduction to Germany’s stakeholder landscape and energy transition priorities.
A central focus was placed on understanding regulatory frameworks, market conditions, and regional opportunities. Insights from leading organizations such as NRW.Energy4Climate, BDEW (German Association of Energy and Water Industries) and acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering provided participants with valuable perspectives on Germany’s evolving energy system.
Showcasing Innovation at SET Tech Festival
A key highlight of the delegation was participation in the SET Tech Festival in Berlin. A vibrant start-up festival powered by the German Energy Agency (dena), supported by Swedish Energy Agency through a gold partnership. The event offered a dynamic platform for our Swedish companies to showcase their technologies and connect with partners. The SGCP presence attracted strong interest throughout the day, reflecting the growing demand for innovative, scalable cleantech solutions.
The delegation also welcomed visits from representatives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and German Energy Agency (dena), highlighting the relevance of Swedish innovation in Germany’s energy transition.
Later in the evening, our SGCP alumni company of 2025, Flower, won the Clean Energy & Storage category at the SET Tech Awards, congratulations! It has been amazing to follow your journey! Also, thank you for sharing your best tips and tricks on German market entry with our delegation before the event!
From Dialogue to Deals
Beyond visibility, the delegation focused on creating real business outcomes.
Participants engaged in an expert forum on market entry, where insights from industry actors were combined with hands-on experiences from companies already active in Germany. This included valuable lessons learned from expansion journeys and practical guidance on navigating the German market.
Relationship-building was further strengthened during an exclusive reception at the Swedish Residence in Berlin, where the delegation was welcomed by the Swedish Ambassador to Germany, Veronika Wand-Danielsson.
Together with the German Energy Agency, GTAI (Germany Trade & Invest) and Cleantech Scandinavia, an investment event was hoster to attract capital to both Swedish and German startups and scaleups. This included a unique networking session hosted aboard an electric vessel on the Spree.
These formats enabled direct connections with potential partners and investors, helping companies move from initial dialogue to concrete opportunities.
Next up: We are going to Germany again in May! Stay tuned for updates here!
