Interview: Hampus Jildenbäck, Marketing Director at Flower, on the contribution to the Swedish COP30 delegation
Flower, the first SGCP participant to join a COP delegation, is building tremendous momentum this year on the platform. Selected as an impact company for COP30 – the 30th UN Climate Change Conference – they are in the perfect position to underline the importance of technology, system transformation and sustainability. The support and visibility provided through SGCP enable Flower to accelerate at full speed, fueled by new projects and strategic partnerships. COP30 will take place between 10–21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil, in the heart of the Amazon – a symbolic location for the world’s fight against climate change. More than 190 countries will gather to update national climate plans, phase out fossil fuels and tripling global renewable energy capacity. Sweden will participate with both a negotiation delegation and a business delegation. In the Swedish Pavilion, solutions within cleantech, circular economy, and climate adaptation will be showcased.
The opportunity to influence through COP30
Flower has been selected to participate and provide decision-makers with their input on the crucial cornerstones of our future grids and energy supply, as renewable energy sources make up an ever-larger share of assets. As an impact company, Flower will have a strong opportunity to highlight both the challenges and opportunities they see in the future energy system. The qualification for participating in COP is based on Flower’s work with regulatory issues and efforts to influence legislation to enable the transition to a renewable and plannable electricity system. In preparation for COP, several projects and initiatives have been carried out to shape Sweden’s message and help influence priorities in key areas such as energy regulation, smart cities, and circularity. The overarching goal is to drive change at both the EU and global level, paving the way for an efficient, renewable, and above all plannable energy system.
About Flower
Flower is the next-generation energy company, distinguishing itself from traditional actors. Flower addresses challenges linked to the volatility of renewable energy sources by using AI-based software to control and optimize battery storage. The initial focus is on optimizing third-party batteries, but developing large-scale battery parks is also part of the core business. Currently, Flower has several projects under development in Germany, which will become operational within a year. They already have full market access and trade on the German electricity market. Unlike many competitors, Flower covers the entire value chain from the construction of battery parks to dispatching and energy trading. Their portfolio of energy assets enables them to offer a new type of green, reliable and affordable electricity contracts to businesses with high energy consumption.
Future focus on the German market
The main focus going forward is to grow in Germany by initiating larger projects and developing the current offer to existing customers. The success in Germany is based on the ability to combine innovative technology with deep industry knowledge. Participation in the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform has also led to new, important partnerships. With disruptive ideas, resistance and fear of change inevitably arise regardless of the market, but the hope is to accelerate knowledge and acceptance, also through the visibility the COP participation provides, to ensure that the benefits and urgency of the transitions remain in focus.
