Swedish Innovation at the Forefront at E-world energy & water 10-13 February 2025

The Swedish Energy Pavilion was once again present in Hall 5 at E-world Energy & Water in Essen. Fourteen Swedish energy pioneers made the stand a dynamic hotspot for industry actors to meet and discuss the evolving needs of the energy landscape. Visitor interest in the stand was high, and it is safe to say that the cinnamon buns served also contributed to the lively atmosphere.

Day one kicked off with an inauguration, where prominent speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining a presence and expanding collaboration opportunities between Sweden and Germany. A special thank you to our speakers who underscored the importance of Swedish-German collaboration in energy: Katarina Szécsi Åsbrink, Head of Department for Communication, Business and Culture, Embassy of Sweden in Germany. Corinna Enders, Chairperson of the Management Board, German Energy Agency (dena). Niclas Carlsson, Director of International Market Development, Swedish Energy Agency!

The diverse range of offerings from Swedish exhibitors highlighted Sweden’s excellence and significant contributions to key areas within the energy sector. Some key examples include:

⚡️ Smart Energy Management – How can we optimize our energy use?

⚡️ Renewable Energy Solutions – What steps can we take to accelerate the transition to a cleaner energy supply?

⚡️ Digital Platforms and Security – How can we ensure stability, safety, and efficiency in energy systems?

⚡️ Customer-Centric Energy Solutions – How can we better include and empower energy consumers?

On the official side, a visit from Judith Litzenburger of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action, and Energy led to meaningful discussions on strengthening cooperation between Sweden and North Rhine-Westphalia in the energy sector. Technology transfer and innovation play a crucial role in driving the sustainable transition and fostering long-term partnerships. Cross-border collaboration accelerates innovation, unlocks new opportunities, and ensures that progress gains momentum.

The pavilion partners also organized events to highlight various topics. For example, “North Sweden – Innovation in Action” by North Sweden Cleantech focused on the opportunities arising from the significant changes happening in Northern Sweden, complemented by company presentations.

The Swedish presence was further emphasized at the official Future Forum stage, where a deep dive into Sweden’s role in the decarbonization of the heating and cooling sector was led by prominent speakers and a curious audience. District heating and circularity in the energy system were key focuses, and the conclusion was clear: Sweden is indeed at the forefront of the energy transition, setting new standards for sustainable heating and cooling. From heat pumps to AI-powered energy optimization, Swedish solutions are driving efficiency and progress.

The road ahead is long, but success depends on collaboration, across borders and sectors. Bold, innovative companies and institutions will be key to driving this transformation.
