Blixt

In 2019, the Swedish startup Blixt earned the Start Up Energy Transition (SET) Award in Energy Efficiency, Smart Devices & Storage category. Being a young startup founded in 2018 the award placed Blixt in the spotlight.

“The global network  through SET awards and support from the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce have helped us tremendously in realizing our ambitious goal, to empower the electric evolution,” says Charlotta Holmquist, founder and chairwoman of Blixt.

Blixt develops unique technologies that enable software control of electricity. The product portfolio includes both solid state circuit breakers and a new generation of modular multilevel converters. By collecting sub second metering data electricity loads can be monitored in real time and detect any changes in consumption patterns. But it also allows for remote control and sophisticated voltage conversion.

“We are introducing the computer into a mechanical domain and with it the power of digital systems and software. The resulting application landscape is huge,” says Charlotta.

Now more than ever, such advanced technologies are needed to support the growing numbers of distributed energy resources, and support customers participating in electricity markets as both power suppliers and demand managers. During spring 2021 Blixt will launch the world’s first certified miniature solid state circuit breaker.
